Portuguese Arrival


1411 – 1466

During this period whole Sri Lanka was under the kingdom of Kotte. The King Parakramabahu VI won Yapa patuna (currently Jaffna) defeating Soli Senavi Arya Chakrawarthi from India. This was an important period that made a Significant Political, Literature and Religion development in the country.

1467 – 1477
On the death of King Parakramabahu VI, his grandson Jayabha II was made the King. The ruler of Yapa Patuna Prince Sapumal came with his army and fought and killed the King to become the King as Buwanekabahu VI (1469-1477). After his death a prince brought up by him became the King as Parakramabahu VII.

1477-1489
Weeraparakramabahu VI became next King killing Parakramabahu VII. The Goa , India Ruler during this time Don Francis Alameda Sent his son Lorenzo De Alameda to capture Ships of Muslim Traders. Lorenzo De Alameda accidentally landed in Galle
